Keisha Lewis Slate

Greetings Branch 1100 Retiree,

This is Keisha Lewis, and after serving as your National Business Agent, I have decided to return to Branch 1100 to better represent our Letter Carriers. Having previously served as a full-time officer from 2007 to 2022, I am now running for Branch President again.

My Story

I began my union career in 2003 as a shop steward in Cypress and was mentored by respected leaders like Kirk Baiz, Barbara Stickler, and Dwain Young. Their guidance shaped my commitment to upholding our contract and advocating for our members.

Branch 1100 has long been known as “The Best in the West,” setting the standard for full-time officers, training, and grievance handling. As your past Vice President and President, I fought to ensure we excelled in all aspects of the labor movement. Some key accomplishments include:

•Protecting injured Letter Carriers by developing grievance strategies during the National Reassessment Program (NRP) I held weekly classes during the NRP.

•Negotiating Local Memorandum of Understandings to safeguard hard-won rights and testifying on behalf of our branch for our lmou’s during for the 2019 -2023 National Agreement

•Defending our contract in arbitration

: conducting rap sessions throughout Branch 1100 on case configuration.

•Reviving retiree engagement with luncheons and an active Director of Retirees.

•Navigating the branch through the COVID-19 pandemic, securing vaccinations for members, our members families, retirees when vaccinations were not available.

Now, I am assembling a strong, experienced, and forward-thinking team to continue our legacy. The following members are running with me as full-time officers:

•Darrell Jefferies (Redlands), Eli Torres (Cypress), Estevan Velasquez (Cypress), Gioconda (Gigi) Estrada (Los Alamitos), Linda Kakalia (Chino), Sharon Peralta (Riverside), and Roxann Gonzalez (Long Beach).

Our executive council will also consist of the following members:

Janet Heinrich- Chairman of the board, Ginger Austin Chairman of Trustees, Terry Campbell Sergeant-at- Arms, Telpher Youman 1st Sergeant-at-Arms, Mirza Palma 2nd Sergeant-at-Arms, Barbara Stickler trustee, Regina Kent trustee, Diana Sanchez trustee, Starr Jester trustee, Dwain Young board member, Ishmael Orduno board member, Jackie Haney board member, and Hugo Santillan board member

Our slate includes dedicated Board Members, Trustees, and experienced officers who bring a mix of expertise and fresh perspective to our branch.

Together, we will restore Branch 1100’s strength and unity. I ask for your support in bringing back our legacy as The Best in the West.
