Advocate, Leader, and Champion of Workers' Rights

Darrell Jefferies has been a stalwart advocate for postal workers since he began his journey as a Shop Steward in December 2002. His commitment to protecting the rights of his colleagues quickly propelled him to the role of Area Steward, where he assisted Branch 1100's full-time officers in overseeing multiple post offices. In 2006, he was elected as Trustee, a position he has held with distinction while managing the branch's assets and attending various Trustee training classes.

My Story

Darrell's leadership skills were recognized when he was elected 6th Vice President of Branch 1100 in 2013. He is currently running for the position of Executive Vice President, continuing his dedication to the union. Over the years, Darrell has taken on various roles, including Food Drive Coordinator, COLCPE Coordinator, and MDA Coordinator, showcasing his versatility and commitment to community service.

 

His achievements speak volumes, having received the Shop Steward of the Year and Shop Steward of the Quarter awards in 2006, along with the prestigious John Jackson Scholarship Award in 2010. Darrell further honed his skills at the University of Wisconsin’s School for Workers, specializing in Arbitration Advocacy, and has maintained a high win percentage in arbitration cases since 2007.

 

As a graduate of the National Association of Letter Carriers Leadership Academy Class #5, Darrell has embraced the role of mentor, guiding new Shop Stewards and teaching leadership classes both at Branch 1100 and for the National Business Agent's Southern California State Training Classes.

 

Darrell's philosophy, "if you don’t stand for something; you’ll fall for anything," underscores his unwavering commitment to advocacy and leadership. He has filed thousands of grievances during his tenure, ensuring that the voices of postal workers are heard and respected. With over 20 years of dedicated service, Darrell Jefferies continues to be a vital force in the National Association of Letter Carriers, championing the rights and welfare of his fellow workers.

Darrell Jefferies has dedicated over two decades to the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), making a significant impact within Branch 1100. Since becoming a Shop Steward in December 2002, Darrell's commitment to advocating for his fellow workers has propelled him through various leadership roles. He quickly advanced to Area Steward, where he assisted Full-time officers in overseeing multiple post offices and shop stewards, showcasing his exceptional leadership and organizational skills.

 

In January 2006, Darrell was elected as a Trustee, a position he has held with distinction while managing the branch's assets. His tenure has been marked by numerous accolades, including being named Shop Steward of the Year and Steward of the Quarter in 2006, as well as receiving the prestigious John Jackson Scholarship Award in 2010. This award allowed him to enhance his skills through the University of Wisconsin’s School for Workers, focusing on Arbitration Advocacy. Darrell has maintained a high win percentage in arbitration cases since 2007, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled advocate.  He has never lost an unemployment hearing.

 

Darrell's leadership journey continued as he was elected 6th Vice President of Branch 1100 in 2013 and is currently campaigning for the position of 2nd Vice President. His commitment to training and mentoring has been evident as he has taught Leadership classes for both Branch 1100 and the National Business Agent for Southern California.

 

A graduate of the NALC Leadership Academy Class #5, Darrell has combined his extensive training with practical experience, filing thousands of grievances and ensuring that the voices of his colleagues are heard. He lives by the motto, “If you don’t stand for something; you’ll fall for anything,” embodying the spirit of advocacy that drives his work. Darrell Jefferies remains a steadfast champion for workers' rights, dedicated to protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
